SPINDLE PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: October 14, 2026

This policy explains what data the mobile game Spindle ("the app", "we") handles. Spindle is developed and published by Philip Pol Wierciszewski. Inquiries: polphilip@gmail.com.

The Short Version

  • Spindle itself collects nothing. There are no player accounts, no custom analytics, no crash reporting SDKs, no custom backend, and no in-app purchases.
  • Your scores, settings, daily streak, and unlocked needle styles are stored strictly locally on your device. We never receive them. Deleting the app removes them.
  • The mobile game displays optional ads through Google AdMob. Google's ads SDK collects certain device data to serve, measure, and limit ads, as detailed below. You can manage this via the in-game consent dialog and the Privacy choices menu in Settings.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Spindle retains the following data in local phone storage, and it never leaves your hardware:

  • Best stage reached and high scores
  • User settings (sound, haptics, reduce motion, needle style)
  • Daily spool challenge progress and current daily streak
  • Unlocked collectible needle styles and tutorial completion state
  • Ad pacing counters (total runs played, game overs since last ad, timestamp of last full-screen ad), utilized solely to prevent repetitive ad frequency

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Spindle utilizes Google AdMob to deliver two non-intrusive ad experiences:

  • An optional rewarded ad you may choose to watch after a failed attempt to revive your run once.
  • An occasional interstitial ad between game transitions, never interrupting active gameplay.

To serve these ads, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process device telemetry:

  • Device identifiers such as Android Advertising ID or iOS IDFA (only if tracking is permitted)
  • Coarse location estimation derived from IP address
  • Device and OS specifications (model, language, operating system version)
  • Ad performance metrics (impressions, completions, taps, and SDK diagnostics)

Google handles this data under its own privacy commitments:

  • How Google uses information from apps that use its services
  • Google Privacy Policy
  • Google Play Data Safety Disclosures for AdMob

Player Privacy Controls

  • User Consent (GDPR / US State Laws): When launched in supported jurisdictions, the app prompts Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent gate. You can change your choice anytime in Settings → Privacy choices.
  • iOS Tracking Transparency: If prompted, you can select "Ask App Not to Track". The game remains 100% playable either way.
  • Offline Play: The entire game functions completely offline. Without an active network connection, no ads load and no telemetry is transmitted.

Children's Privacy

Spindle is not directed at children and is rated for players aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
